Nail Care – It’s something that has plagued me my entire life. Not so much my toenails, but my fingernails. From cutting them to trying to keep nail polish on them, I’ve had nothing but bad luck.
Okay you’re probably laughing at me by now, especially after reading that I have an issue with cutting my nails. What can I say? They never cut nicely and I always have to do a crap-ton of filing to attempt to make them the right shape. Oh and don’t even get me started on how I often have so many problems trying to get my nail the right shape, that I lose any length my nail had.
Though I have to admit that my biggest problem is keeping my nail polish from chipping less than 24 hours after I apply it. Now before you starting wondering if I use a base coat and/or top coat, let me just say that I always apply a base coat, then the polish, then a top coat. On top of that I’ve tried the following:
1. Filed the tops of my nails before applying the base coat, to dull the nails and get it a less oily base.
2. Rubbed my nails with alcohol before applying the base coat to try and dry a lot of the oil out.
3. Filed the tops of my nails and then rubbed alcohol on top.
4. Used every “long lasting” brand of nail polish I can get my hands on.
Sadly none of these things have worked. The only difference it made was the amount of chips my nails had after 24 hours, but there were still chips. Talk about frustrating!
At 33 years old, I must admit that I have given up wearing nail polish on my fingernails. I’ve come to the conclusion that they must hold more oil in them than the Middle East and that I’m pretty much out of luck, unless I want to fork over the time and money to get and keep up fake nails (been there…no thanks).
