My Bloggy New Years Resolutions

resolutions My Bloggy New Years Resolutions

Note to self: Next year write this post ahead of time, because staying to to 5 a.m. on New Year’s Eve is not conducive to writing a resolutions blog post the next day.

Yeah right, like I’d EVER try to give up sarcasm.  This post is all about goals I actually plan on obtaining, not ones I’m not even interested in making in the first place.  LOL

I did a lot of thinking when I wrote insignificant at best – A Year in Review and decided that I needed to make some changes around here.  When I started actively blogging in April of 2011 I spent a lot of time writing posts about things I wanted to talk about; stuff I found funny or things that made met angry or just whatever random thing I wanted to share with my readers.  Sadly I didn’t do nearly enough of those types of posts last year.  As I started to write more fiction, personal posts kind of fell to the side and then eventually those fell away too and I was focused primarily on reviews and giveaways.

Don’t get me wrong, I love doing reviews and giveaways; I love getting to work with great companies and giving you guys the chance to win cool products!  However, I want to focus more on mixing it up a bit.  I want all of you to get to know me better and I want to get to know all of you better too!

At some point last year I stopped monitoring all of my blog comments and I really regret doing that.  As all of you know, between my kid, my full time job, and the business I co-own with the hubby, life is pretty hectic.  It’s extremely hard to keep up with all the comments on the blog, if I don’t have a way to keep track of the most recent ones.  I used to pride myself on the fact that I responded to every single comment I got and if the person had  blog, I returned the visit and commented back.  Moderating and approving the comments was how I was able to keep track of all this and since I lifted the moderation rule, I stopped being diligent about this and I really apologize for that.  So the moderation is back on and so is my commitment to all of you.  I want each of you to know just how much I appreciate your comments!  There is nothing more rewarding than knowing that people are reading your posts and are compelled to respond to something you’ve written.  So PLEASE keep the comments coming and make sure to include the link to your blog if you have one!

So enough with talking about my regrets and let’s talk about the resolutions I’m making to you and this blog:

  • More posts about life in general.  Whatever I feel like talking about I’m going to make a point to share it!  To try and get this commitment started on the right foot, I’ve joined the Ultimate Blog Challenge and will be posting 30 posts this month!  Lucky you guys for getting to read them! :)  I’ve done the challenge before and met some really great bloggers through it, so I’m excited to be doing it again!
  • Continue to bring you quality reviews and giveaways.  I love sharing great products with all of you and giving you the chance to win one for yourself!  Plus I’m also co-hosting my very first giveaway event called the Winter Blues Giveaway! (On a side note we still are looking for bloggers to join us!  Please check it out if you’re a blogger and would like to participate in a free opportunity!)
  • I’ll also be returning to my Friday Funny Business posts and will now be doing a What I’m Listing To series of posts.  Those will be taking place of the Song of the Week posts that I used to do and will be written when I’ve got some great music I’m inspired to share with all of you.  After awhile I found that it was too hard to come up with a weekly song, because there were times that there was nothing new out that I liked.  The posts stopped being fun because I was forcing myself to try and find something that wasn’t there.  This way, I can still share great music without putting unneeded pressure on myself!  LOL
  • I’m going to continue to try and resurrect Welcome Wednesday, my guest post feature.  I’ve had some amazing guests posts over the past 2 years and don’t want to stop now.  This might not be weekly, like it was for awhile, but I’m going to feature guest posts as they come in.  If you’re interested in participating, please contact me!

All in all there is one word that is my main focus for the year and the above resolutions will likely fall into place.  The word is:

ORGANIZED

The more organized I am, the more I can accomplish and the better I can make iab for me AND all of you!

Now I have a favor to ask all of you:

What would you like to see on insignificant at best?  What do you like about iab and what don’t you like?  How can I make iab a place that you love coming to?  I really, really want your feedback, so please let me know!

Also, in keeping with the idea of change, I’m currently working with Christina from Spilled Milkshake Designs! I’m sure excited about it, so be on the lookout for the new design, likely coming this month!

So those are my resolutions, what are yours?  I’d love to hear them!

  1. You can totally do it!

  2. New follower from the blog hop and fellow lover of sarcasm! Not a chance that’s going on my resolution list!

  3. Can’t wait to see the new design! I love your funny Fridays and your fiction. Did you check out the new tips on CC for writing reviews and blogging ideas? You might find something to try new there. I think you have to really set a schedule to stick with things. I have my staple(shorter content posts) I can always throw out, and then ones, where I get to sit down and really write. It’s good to have a balance, and keep the more demanding writing to once/week, so that you can work on a draft through the week. Just some of the things I do to handle a busy schedule;) Oh, and break things up a lot, so that you have more posts and material from one idea. Looking forward to the coming year of blogging from you!

  4. GREAT resolutions! A new design always makes me re-energized! You will have to share with us your new design on the Blogging Planner FB page so we can all come look ;)

  5. Wow you sure are a busy lady. Im new here to your blog so I will be checking it all out. My resolutions are to eat healthier and try to lose weight again. I did lose 50 lbs before but now that Im older its different, we dont have as much energy like I used to. Thanks for blog

    • Good luck with your resolutions! I once lost 40 lbs and I totally get what you mean. The older I get the harder it gets to find the time, motivation and energy!

  6. Yeah! Cheers to the new years resolution! One of my resolutions is to start crafting again. I would love to share my passion and my talent to friends and family. And what I love about crafting is, I will be making crafts to earn for a living plus, I get to enjoy. :)
